Pashupatinath
One of the most important Hindu temple complexes of the Himalayas is Pashupatinath. Pashupati is an incarnation of the god Shiva as lord of animals, and the complex is filled with many small shrines and ‘Shiva lingams’. Built on the banks of the Bagmati River, this temple is best known for its cremation ghats that line the river. The riverside plays host to Aarti ceremonies at sunset.
